
In 1959, a discussion to set up a junior high school in Jahangirpur mouja was taken up by the local people under the supervision of Jahangirpur Union Board.The school started with few students in the 'boithok khana' of Janab Owaresh Ali Chowdhury and Janab Bodroja Chowdhury was supposed to be the first teacher in the history of Jahangirpur High School. In 1960 some education interested persons namely Owaresh Ali Chowdhury,Abbas Ali Chowdhury,Kashem Ali Miah,Dr. Jyotindranath Das, Dinesh Hansda came forward to set up a school room with help of 'public subscription' on the land donated by Hasinuddin Chowdhury. In 1961 the school was recognised as two plus Junior High School and Madhabendra nath Sarkar was appointed as the Headmaster of this institution.In 1977 though the school was transferred from Jahangirpur Mouja to Baganbari under Ramdevpur Mouja, the name of the school remained unchanged. In 1978 the school got the status of four plus junior high school. In the year 2002 the school was upgraded to Higher Secondary School with science stream and arts stream. At present the school is highly riched with fifty five skilled teaching and non-teaching staff as well as two thosand students.
