Sultanganj High School(HS) is one of the renowned schools in the district of Malda. To be a complete transformation, it ran a long journey over a series of the dated executive steps of the Government from time to time. It is, actually, a cultural abode of historical Informations that are authentic in the formation of the school. Firstly, it was established by the keen educationist, Late Md. Gafurur Rahaman with many other social reformers in the heart of Sultanganj across Mahananda river in 1949 as public school. It started a slow journey with a very few students and thus spent a period of 11years that is a historical mark of its progress. Next, it came under the supervision and power of   the West Bengal Government to run it as a new form. After the first inspection of the Education Department of West Bengal(Vide memo no.1816/G-III/14, dated 09/05/1961), the school was recognized as 2 class Junior school in the year of 1961. It was the first golden seed of the further advanced historical Information of the school. This school stepped into the next highier upgradation when it was upgraded to class 4 Junior Primary school by the next  recognition of the Govt.(Vide. memo. no. 464-Sc/S dated 01-02-1965). It pushed the wheel of progress of Sultanganj School to a few paces ahead. Later, the school was upgraded again to the high school after the proper inspection of the Department. It achieved the next recognition(Vide memo. no.-13926/G, dated 31/08/1966) to be high school  from upper primary level. This progress has marked it as a part of historical landmark. The importance of the school has become the icon of education and exuberance of knowledge and talent to all the people. The school itself has got changed intoll different levels and it has also changed the then society and its people by imparting education amona the successive students.It has been playing a key role to transform the disadvantaged area to an productive education hub. After that, it was again recognized(Vide mmo. no-DSASD/70/ recog/09, Dated 30/06/2009) to upgrade the school as higher secondary after the keen inspection of the board. So, the school was reckoned as the Govt-aided school till 29 th September, 2013. Then the school received the recognition of sponsorship (Vide conversation memo.no.-890/RMSA/SL/5S-264/12,dated 30/09/2013)and has attained the present prestigious status as the sponsored school that is the historical milestone of its success.
