Mirzapur is one of the largest villages with almost an unique feature of having two panchayats under the jurisdiction of Beldanga Police Station in the district of Murshidabad but the only High school making its presence felt here years together is Mirzapur Hazi Soleman Chowdhury High school (H.S).
Tracing back, one can visualize that once there was no opportunity of education here. The students then would laboriously have to go faraway to have their education. In that circumstance, three college students namely Jainal Abedin, Abdul Motin and Md. Yamin Hossain dreamt of establishing a school in the village to drive away the darkness of illiteracy. In the year 1973 as soon as the proposal was placed for the consent of respected Nurul Islam Chowdhury, the then MLA as well as an eminent personality of the Mirzapur village, he agreed with other enthusiasts and social workers in the auspicious motive. Venerable Nurul Saheb and Badruddin Mondal Saheb donated a plot of land measuring 3.5 bighas to set up the school besides Nurul Saheb's separate financial contribution in building classrooms and the school was established after the name of his father, respected Hazi Soleman Chowdhury Saheb.
Resoluting Md. Yamin Hossain to act as the headmaster, there began the first movements of the school with other teachers such as Md. Akbar Ali, Abubakkar Siddique, Sankar Narayan Mandal and one non-teaching staff. The rest is history. After a lot of ups and downs and admirable perseverance of the teachers for the prolonged 12 years, the school ultimately got its long-cherished approval of West Bengal School Education Department. But the school began developing in the true sense of the term during the regime of Md. Akbar Ali as the honorable teacher-in-charge. Under the supervision of his skilled and prudent leadership the number of the new classrooms was increased, new teachers were appointed and above all the school got promoted to Madhyamik standard. Then in the year 2007 after the appointment of venerable Md. Abbas Ali as the head-master, the school found its maturity when it got promoted to Higher Secondary level in the year 2011.Thus, the school moved forward in a robust and successful way and is still flourishing with the blessings of God and active corporation of all teaching and non-teaching staff, students, members of Managing Committee as well as innumerable well-wishers and above all the inhabitants of the village, Mirzapur.
