HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL:
Shibpur Janakalyan Sangha High School (H.S) is an age-old educational institution in Nadia district. The school had started its journey at the Pre-Independence period. Several major facts of Freedom movement and Patriotism had worked behind the establishment of this institution. The school was established on 17th January,1924. The school has a glorious tradition over nine decades. In the 1st half of the twentieth century when most of the rural people were living in an atmosphere covered with the darkness of illiteracy, superstition and immense poverty, the community people of this locality thought something different. They donated acres of land, crops and money to establish an educational institution for a better tomorrow for the children of the villagers. Their efforts, sacrifices and contribution were not in vain.
At the Pre-Independence era this school had got its recognition as a High School in 1947 from University of Calcutta (Vide memo No. 684/Pro.320, Dt.22/07/1947) which was officially implemented on 01/01/1948. In the year 1990 this school had been upgraded to a class XII Higher Secondary High School. Many prominent teachers as well as educationists like Sreemat Sankar Mahavir Chaitanya Brahmachari- popularly known as ‘Guruji’, Anandamoi Moitra, Dr. Birendranath Biswas- son of the soil played a major role for the enrichment of this age-old institution. Vice Chancellor Suniti Kumar Chattopadhya conferred upon Dr. Birendranath Biswas, the then Headmaster of the school ‘Doctor of Literature’ after studying ‘Rabindra Sabda Kosh’ penned by Dr.Biswas. Another renowned personality Dr. Sumitra Biswas, at present a famous physician of West Bengal, stood third in SF Examination possibly in 1969.
The school had been going through several disadvantages over many decades like scarcity of classrooms, proper school building, boundary walls, electricity connection, proper drinking water, lack of teachers in vacant posts etc. now we have overcome most of the difficulties. At present this institution is all set to transform itself to an institution of modern times keeping with past tradition of Bengal intact.
