
Hijuli Sikshaniketan HS started its journey in 1949 in a land donated by the great social worker of the locality Muragi Mohan Mukherjee (recipient of President Award for Teaching) in the most wretched condition but with a ticking heart that always follows the people in need. Two years after the partitioned indpendence of our country in 1949 this school (in a thatch and terracotta tiles shade two rooms) was established by Ramgopal Saha, who became headmaster of the school. Few volunteer teachers came forward for the development of the marginal people's children's education. Gopal Chandra Banerjee was one of them, alongwith Satyanarayan Sarkar, Durgaprosad Ganguly, Bhabaniprosad Ganguly, Promod Mukherjee. The number of students was not more than 50. in the beginning the school was a junior High School with class from V to VIII. The school was recognised by West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
The school went on in a steady path. In the course of time, bit by bit students and teachers increased. in 1964, the school was upgraded to class VIII standard. There were 6 Teachers and around 200 students. Then the school got the able guidance of Headmaster Rabindranath Sarkar, who took the school in its forward journey.
The school was upgraded to Class X in 1st january, 1965 and became Co-ed . The incumbent Headmaster Rabindranath Sarkar got some worthy teachers in Geeta Chowdhury, Bani Kumar Roy, Sumanl Chandra Bhowmick, Gopal Ghosh and Atul kumar Mitra. Sumati Rajbanshi came as a group D staff and Debendranath Banerjee joined as Clerk. The school was going on in many needs.
In 1975, a grant from state government came as a releif. Two rooms were built. Later the then M.P. Anandamohan Biswas released grant from his MP fund- two more rooms were built. Further donation came from some philanthropers. Ex-student of this school Krishna Kanta Mondal and Ex-teacher manju Banerjee donated fund. Three classrooms were built with the fund. The condition of the school improved day by day. Number of students and teachers increased manyfold. Then the school came under the skilled guidance of teacher in charge Satya Narayan Sarkar and most of all Bani Kumar Roy. in 1992, Chittaranjan Biswas joined as headmaster and then more teachers joined through school service commission. After Chittaranjan Biswas went to other school, Haridas poddar, Asit Kumar Mondal, Paritosh Kumar Biwas, Subhas Sarkar served as Teacher-In-Charge in different times. The shcool is now under the worthy guidance of Paritosh Kumar Bsiwas, with the Presidentship of Sri Bani Kumar Roy, alongwith the efficient Assistant Teachers like Debashis Ghosh, Malina Mandal, Kousik Biswas, Sarmila Modak, Sourav Debnath, Surath SArkar, Sanjoy Chand, Sampa Roy, Kaberi Bandhapadhyay, Debkumar Biswas, Sudip kumar Singha, Anupam Biswas, Gobinda Ghosh, Sukanta Biswas, Nani Gopal Roy, Sudip Chatterjee, Santu Roy, Subhankar Ghosh, Debangan Saha, Biram Kisku, Asit Bairagi, Proloy saha, Rupankar Banerjee, Rumpa Karmakar and Kousik Saha.
In 28th May, 2012, the school was upgraded to Higher Secondary with Science and Arts recognised under West Bengal Council of higher Secondary Education. In this regard the school's Ex-teacher Sri Bani Kumar Roy's sincere effort for the upgradation is worthy to mention. The school is now sprawling in a wide area with an excellent playground of its own. In length the shool building run upto 100 mtrs with three storied structure. A lion's share of the classrooms have been built by the grants released by Sarba Siksha Abhiyan in separate Phases. All rooms are now equipped with fans and lights both for the students and staff. There is an Arsenic free Water Plant in the school which has been possible for the erstwhile MP Dr. Sucharu Ranjan Halder.The plant serves water to students and the inhabitans of the area. There is running water and drainage facility in the practical room. There are a Library,four Practical room(Geography, Biology, Physics and Chemistry), one Mid Day Meal Hall and Flood Shelter. The school and ther ground is enclosed with boundary wall.
