History

In January 1965, the co-educational school Pannalal Institution, got separated and a separate stream for girls was started in the morning section of the Pannalal Institution.  This new stream for girls, known as Bidhan Chandra Memorial Govt. Sponsored Girls’ High School, was a Govt. sponsored school in its initial stage.  The school was from Class – V to Class – XI.

On 1st January 1980 the Government constructed a new building on the Congress Road and gave recognition to the school as a purely Govt. institution.  The school was shifted here and classes were from Class –V to XII.  At present the school has two streams – Science and Arts at the higher secondary level.  It is the only purely Govt. school for girls in the Kalyani Subdivision.
