History

Debalaya Hatkhola F.P. School is a many years old primary school. If the pages of history can be turned backwards then we see a lot of unknown events and many sacrifices behind the establishment of this school. At that time, there was no primary school in this area (Debalaya, Berachampa). It was really very difficult that the children in this area had to go to distant school. Thinking of the plight of the children many important persons who were interested to education came forward to establish this school. Mentionable personalities among them were LT GOPAL CHANDRA SADHUKHAN, LT GOSHTHO BIHARI SADHUKHAN, LT GIRIBALA SADHUKHAN (widow), SRI JAYANTA SADHUKHAN...... As per school record Late GIRIBALA SADHUKHAN donated 24 satak of land for the establishment of this school. Finally a temporary school named 'GIRIBALA PRATHOMIK VIDHYALAYA' was established in 1955. Gradually the number of students continued to increase. After that it was officially approved as "Debalaya Hatkhola F.P. School" in 1962 by the West Bengal Education Department. At that time, Lt Atul Krishna Kabasi was the head teacher of this school. With the help of government, the school was flourished. At the same time, the number of students and teachers continued to increase. Today many students of this school have well established in their lives. They are Dr Sudip Ghosh (Ph.D), Sri Soumitra Sarkar (H.S.Teacher), Sri Madhusudan Ghosh (Professor), Md.Sahanoaj Hossain (B.Tech Engineer), Smt Priyanka Sadhukhan (H.S. Teacher), Sri Indrajit Sadhukhan (H.S. Teacher)...... But sadly the building-infrastructural development of this school has not been possible yet. Because this school is adjacent to the boundary of the 'Chandraketu Garh' which is an Archaeological site. Therefore, it is not possible to excavate the foundation for the construction of school building. As a result, teaching-learning is going on with the old classroom (dilapidated walls, G.I. sheet with bamboo shed, infirm doors and windows). At present, the total number of students in this school are 184 (academic session : 2020). And the total number of teachers are 6 (regular 5 + para teacher 1) with the TIC named Sri Apurba Lal Bagchi.
