History

 Kolsur High School (HS)is one of the oldest high schools in North 24 Parganas. Its activity records go as far back as to1942. Formally, however, the school was recognized as a secondary one in 1951 and as a higher secondary one in 1976. The school has an enriching history of community patronage and involvement in school education. The initiative was taken up by Dhirendranath Mondal who led its transformation from a makeshift structure to a huge school building with a playing field and two-quarter complexes. The contributions were made by his family kins and local people. It has been serving for a long time as a premier institution in the locality providing quality education to people under Habra, Baduria, and Deganga. Dhiren Babu took upon himself the pain to invite local dignitaries to serve its purpose and eminent teachers and scholars to teach in the school and ensure their honorarium and salary through enormous constraints and uncertainties in its early days.

     The school has evolved with time and adapted to the changes, envisaged and conceived by the state and the nation as a whole. Apart from a glorious history of teaching science and commerce, the school has introduced over the years two vocational units and computer education creating opportunities for ordinary boys and girls to gain access to technology-oriented professions. The school has made great contribution to the proliferation and development of society.
