The school was established in 1864 – the foundation stone of this school was laid by the then zamindar, Ramsundar Ghosh Rai Bahadur for imparting education in which teaching was conducted in both English and Bengali languages at Rajibpur, North 24 Parganas. Ramsundar Ghosh Rai Bahadur and his family provided evidence of their love for education by donating land and money for salvaging the school from financial crisis. Since its establishment it has been striving hard to eradicate the entire prevailing darkness of education by imparting knowledge among the learners. Most of our students come from poor socio-economic stratum and minority community.
At present we can accommodate 1500 students from Classes V to XII under proper surveillance of 40 devoted teaching and non-teaching staffs. There are wonderful playgrounds both inside and outside the school compound where all co-curricular activities are held throughout the year. The Library of our school is endowed in such a way so that students can get their proper assistance for various academic matters and be self-sufficient to enhance their capacity of independent learning and thinking. Students are encouraged to attend different socio-cultural programmes organized by the school. They participate in drawing, singing, dancing, sports, quiz, debate competition (s) and make discussion through social media to enhance their knowledge in the field of overall education.
To build up the treasure of knowledge, the school authority has taken several initiatives with the assistance of its Managing Committee and its sub-committees like School Development Committee, Staff Council, Academic Council, Parent-Teacher-Association, etc. throughout the year. The school has its annex a Boys’ Hostel, namely Kalibhushan Hindu Hostel founded by Surendra Nath Ghosh where students from different parts of West Bengal are accommodated in a beautiful environment to take part in education process.
