
OUR SCHOOL
To enkindle the light of knowledge among the students of Rajarhat Bishnupur in the year 1880, 13th July for acting Indian chief justice sir Romesh Chandra Mitter founded Bishnupur English (High) School at his own residence. To take the lead of the institution he designated his renowned friend william Mahendra Das in 1916, after several discussion Convention was held. Managing Committee decided and changed the name to Bishnupur Sir Romesh Mitter's (High) English School.
Again in 1919, the name of the school changed and since then it named as Bishnupur Sir Romesh Institution.
In 1888, the school had been certified by the age old institution Calcutta University. After that, in 1952, the school was started recognizing under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.
In 1958, the school was included in west Bengal Grant - in- Aid. In 1960, the school started its co-education section for class IX. In 1961, Humanition and commerce streams were also included for Higher Secondary course. And then,
In 1963, Science was also included.
In 1979, the school had achieved an approval from the Govt. of India to set up,
Sanchayika Sanchay Prokolpo for the betterment of students to save Very nominal amound In the year, 2004. The school had also observed the 25th Anniversary of Sanchayika Divas.
In 1987 the school had taken the membership of students Health Home. As a result, the students may get the medical check-up in a very nominal rate. Besides that, in 2005 the school has Completed 125 years. We pay our heartfelt gratitude towards all who provided leadership and worked untiringly to cultivate this initiation .We are thankful to their contribution that BSRI has achieved a place of recognition to the entire district.
Here teacher – Student relationship, well equipped library, Cultural atmosphere, wide range gymnasium and renowned teaching staffs have promoted to immense Learning opportunities among children to find their positive path ways to adulthood.
Through this holistic approach, all we can say is that, “In this school we are all one big family and we are proud to be member of BSRI”.
