Digha Junior Basic School is a reputed Primary School (West Bengal Government undertaken) in Chandpara. It is located at Village - Digha, (Duma Gram Panchayat) under Gaighata East Circle,North 24 Parganas,West Bengal, India. Currently It enrolls about 107 students from Pre-primary to Class V. It is considered to be one of the most eminent Primary Schools in Chandpara region for delivering a good quality education for over 50 years. In 1954, Respectable personalities (from Village Digha) such as- Mr. Hajarilal Ghosh, Mr. Hajarilal Mondal, Mr. Hiralal Mondal, Mr. Jagadish Chandra Mondal, Mr. Jogesh Chandra Ghosh and Mr. Radhapada Mondal joined their hands as trustees and donated their land to educate the local children as no primary schools were there at that time at the village. The School started its academic activities on 4th December, 1954 with a mission to educate the local children from 5-10 year age group. Mr. Nalinikanta Majumdar was the 1st Head Teacher of this School. At that time, the school had no concrete building. However in 2005, the condition of the school building started to improve under 'Sarba Sikhsa Mission'. Nowadays the School is having a concrete building which consists of 3 class rooms, 1 kitchen, 1 dining space, 4 sets of bathrooms for both boys and girls. Also there is a huge play ground and a stage(for cultural programmes) in front of the main school building. |
