Swami Vivekananda believed- education is the manifestation of perfection already in man. He thought it a pity that the existing system of education did not enable a person to stand on his own feet, nor did it teach him self confidence and self respect. To him education was an assimilation of noble ideas.
Some enthusiastic people of the village Angrail not only realized the true essence of education preached by the great educators but also realized the true reality of education. They felt a high school to be set up in their locality for the purpose of basic education for their children. For higher education they had to go to Bongaon, 6 kms away from their locality on feet. A meeting was held at Angrail free primary school on 12th December 1962. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposal to establish an institution for giving a proper education to the children of the locality. The proposal was received with unanimous approbation.
Another effective meeting was held on 22th January 1963. All the respected and education minded persons were present there to select the new site of the school. The site of the said school was selected near Angrail market on the play ground of Angrail F.P. School. In 1963 a thatch roof cottage (two rooms) with bamboo pillars, wattle, mud floor was erected. The school was named as Angrail vidyamandir. Nakul Chandra Roy was appointed as the Headmaster and Jitendranath Biswas, Ajit kumar Majumder and Manindranath Das were appointed as assistant teachers. A managing committee was also nominated.

On 10th July, 1964, the Headmaster Nakul Chandra Roy resigned his post and then a new headmaster named Prodyut kumar Mahanta was appointed as a Headmaster. In 1965 two villagers Paresh Chandra Mistry and Anil kumar Ghosh donated a land for Angrail Vidyamandir. The school was shifted to the new donated land which is situated near the river Ichhamati and also adjacent to India – Bangladesh Border. In this new house a new sitting arrangements were made for the students of class-V, Class-VI, and class-VII. Class –VIII was started in 1966.

Later the number of students increased surpassingly and new pacca building was erected with several class rooms. In 1991 the school was recognized as high school (class- IX-X).
