History

At the far end of the neighbourhood known as old Nabapalli, stands the pride of the people of the area and of all of Barasat for that matter, Nabapally Boys' High School (H.S.), a result of unwavering love for education and relentless determination of some local educationists to ignite the fire of learning among people. After its inception in 1963, the school, after temporarily being run at the nearby Jogendranath Girls' School premises, got its own campus soon after.

Right after being recognized as a junior high school by the state government, a proud moment indeed, the school had to suffer a major setback when the school building was set on fire in the aftermath of some political disturbances in 1970-71. Though the school suffered major losses, the earnestness, resilience and love of the local people for the school helped the school regain its former status. Since then, with heartfelt contribution and cooperation from the students, the teachers, the dedicated non-teaching staff, the respected guardians, the managing committee, our honourable government, honourable councillor and the MLA, the school has walked many a glorious path with its head held high.

As time passed, the school earned a considerable reputation in and around Barasat to attract a large number of students. In keeping with the influx, over the years, the school has improved its infrastructure by expanding its buildings to accommodate more students. Not only that, the school is extremely mindful to make the teaching-learning process more effective, comfortable and enjoyable for the students.

The school has a system of power backup in place so that the learning process is not interrupted because of electricity failure.  The school is proud to maintain a standard of zero dropout cases at the primary level.

In the 1999-2000 sessions, the school was raised to the higher secondary level with two streams of studies (science and commerce). In the educational session of 2010-11, the school was given permission to introduce arts stream as a reward of its satisfactory performance at both secondary and higher secondary levels. In the year 2001, the school was honoured as a 'category-A' school in the state.

The school still needs better infrastructure as far as the laboratories are concerned and the school is sincerely working at that. There is a computer laboratory with 28 computers with colour-monitors besides the ICT computer lab that came into being in 2017.  With ten more computers and four teachers including both permanent and temporary/contractual posts.

The schools internal administrative departments are also computerized. An uninterrupted supply of purified drinking water and the gymnasium for the students are the two things that the school is proud of.  The school is also trying to recruit a trainer for the gym to instruct students.

Under the inspirational guidance and supervision of the teachers, our students have achieved accolades in various cultural, sports and science-oriented programs. They have performed very well at the state organised mock parliament competition. Under the supervision of West Bengal Vigyan Mancha, the Jagdish Bose memorial Eco-Club of our school has done considerable work.
