History

It was 1948 ,in the post independent scenario of today's Barrackpore, enthused by the  eminent, learned personalities like late Dr. NARENDRANATH BAGCHI and SRI JNANENDRA NATH CHATTERJEE, LATE GOPAL CH.SADHUKHAN, the worthy son of Late MANMATHA NATH SADHUKHAN, materialized his departed education loving father's dream by laying the foundation stone  of this time-honored temple of  learning  on the land donated by the  great-hearted, patron of learning, late M.N.SADHUKHAN , and contributing  in cash and kind himself with an earnest desire to spread the light of education among the children of the rootless people from East Bengal. Standing beside the Barasat Road,NCPukur, Starting its journey in 1948  housed in a few rooms, with a few devoted teachers and a few students this institution turned out to be one of the leading, superlative institutions in the district with SRI ARUN BEAT, a student of this school, securing 2nd position in H.S.in West  Bengal in 1957,SRI SANJAY BHATTACHARYA in 1986 holding 9th position, and MISS JOYEE BHATTACHARYA placing herself among the first 20 toppers in H.S.2011. Side by side Such records of brilliant performance in the academic field, this school contributed to the world of  games and sports also sending a number of star footballers  namely, Swapan Sengupta, Paltu Sinha, Jagadish Ghosh, Shankar Ghosh ,Goutam Dutta, Naren Dey, Hari Shil and others to East Bengal, Mohan bagan , muhamedan sporting and other  famous Kolkata Clubs. Very recently Sk. SOHAIL also added to the list. In the field of junior school cricket also our KOUSHIK GHOSH, SHAIBAL MAJUMDER and others made bright presence at  the Eden Gardens. Thus MANMATHA NATH HIGH SCHOOL came to become an object of pride for the Barrackpurians producing a sizable number of DOCTORS, ENGINEERS, PROFESSORS, SCIENTISTS, RESEARCH SCHOLARS, TEACHERS , ARTISTS, LAWYERS, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT and what not, to serve the nation  successfully adding to the reputation and glory holding its head high above others in the neighboring areas.we are grateful to those of our predecessors for taking the school to such a height of perfection.
