History

Over 59 years of successful journey Ghola Bhubaneswari Balika Vidyamandir has set foot in the glorious 60 years. Swami Somananda Maharaj founded the school in the name of pious soul "Bhubaneswari Devi", mother of Swami Vivekananda on 2nd January, 1961. His mission was to educate the girls of the poor families, specially for those of the homeless families (udbastu) who had come from East Bengal (now Bangladesh). The local person interested in education stood by him and extended their helping hands to fulfill the mission. From the very begining the academic and other official activities had been performed in the school building of "Sodepur Sushil Krishna Shikshayatan Boys' High School" in morning. In 1965 "Ghola Bhubaneswari balika Vidyamandir" got affiliation from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and recognised as an secondary school. Then the same Managing Committee would act for both "Sodepur Sushil Krishna Sikshayatan Boys' High School" and "Ghola Bhubaneswari Balika Vidyamandir".

In 1981 Ghola Bhubaneswari balika Vidyamandir acquired her own administrative power and able to form a seperate Managing committee where Shri Bankim Chandra Lodh (a local PIE) took over the responsibility as the secretary. Since then the School Managing Committee had been trying to set up a separate building for Ghola Bhubaneswari balika Vidyamandir. Later the honorable Secretary Shri Chittaranjan Chowdhury accepted the mission and after a sincere effort he was able to acquire a vacant land beside the building of Sushilkrishna Sikshayatan Boys' High School. In 2002 the honorable Secretary Shri Manoranjan Sarkar started the construction work of new building. On 2nd January, 2005, the new building was inaugurated and the dream found it's form in reality. From then the school has been running at day time. While working as the Secretary Shri Sarkar breathed his last unfortunately. But the next Managing Committee gave the best effort to complete the construction work.

The monetary help of the teachers, guardians, local people, private limited company like Pearless and Government Grants helped to build today's three storied building. A good number of students of this institution are successfully performing their duties in their working fields as well as in the society.
