Acharya Prafulla Chandra High School started its quiet journey on the sunbaked afternoon of 18th April, 1987 with a handful of teachers and students under the stewardship of Late Dr. Nishith Kumar Ghosh, our first Headmaster. The Higher Secondary section (Science and Arts) was started in 1990 and later in 1999 the Commerce section was added. Within a couple of years, the roll strength grew exponentially as the school built up a tradition of warm teacher-student relationship, discipline and academic excellence. Mr Chandan Prasad Chakrobarty, who took charge as the Assistant Headmaster of the school in1996, went on to take over as the teacher-in-charge on 1st February, 1998 with the superannuation of Dr. Nishith kr. Ghosh in Jan, 1998. On 19 th October, Mr Supratik Basu took over as the Headmaster and together with Chandan Prasad Chakraborty as the Assistant Headmaster he took the school from strength to strength. After Mr Supratik Basu's retirement on 31st October, 2015, Mr Mukul Ranjan Sahoo, took over as the teacher-in-charge. Mrs Dorothy Rudra, took charge as the Headmaster/Headmistress on 26th July, 2019 and Chandan Prasad Chakrobarty, till his retirement on 30.11.2019 , served as the AHM.
The school went from strength to strength under the stewardship of different heads. A crowning achievement came in 1999 when Anindya Roy came seventh in the statewide Madhyamik merit list. In sports, under the inspiring and indispensible leadership of Sri Swapan Kumar Bhandary, the teacher in charge of sports and physical education, the school football and cricket teams won laurels one after another including the prestigious districtchampionship of Subrata Cup Football in 2008 and the runner-up trophy in the North 24 Parganas district cricket tournament in 2001-2002..
The tenth anniversary of theschool was observed in 1996-1997 and the silver jubilee was organized in 2012. On both occasions, processions, seminars, intra-school and inter-school contests and cultural shows were held. Students and teachers joined hands on these and other numerous occasions to observe occasions in a befitting manner showcasing their creative and cultural talent.
Thus, with only three decades behind, Acharya Prafulla Chandra High School has been making its presence felt.
Teachers will come and go. Students will come, grow and go away to take on the world. The school will forever stretch its tireless arms towards perfection.
