History

The present Institution as an exclusively Girls'school began its journey on and from 2nd January in the year1973 with only 66 girls reading in classes V and VI. At that time the Institution had no building of its own. Classes used to be held at the school building of adjacent Gowa Jiaul Haque Institution.Saidunnessa Bibi, the wife of ex State Health Minister, Mr. Jiaul Haque took interest in the spread of female education in her ancestral village,Gowa and accordingly not only donated a plot of land for that purpose  but also laid the foundation stone and helped to set up the  building in which the school is presently housed. With the sincere efforts of some local well-wishers, especially, late Anil Neogy and late Jagabandhu Ghosh, the ex teacher and ex Headmaster of Gowa Jiaul Haque Institurion respectively, the school was granted affiliation to WBBSE in the year 1974. The present school building was inaugurated on 12th March in the year 1978 by the then State Education Minister, Mr. Abdul Bari..

In the year 1984 the Institution got the sanction of opening classes VII and VIII and at that time 6 female teachers, a clerk and a matron were rendering their services. Ever since the Institution has expanded structurally and academically . In the year 2005 the Institution was upgraded to a Secondary school with the sanction of opening of classes IX and X .The number of students as well as that of teachers increased. Overcoming the initial hardships, a more or less decent infrastructure has been developed with the financial aid from Government as well as from individual well-wishers. Very recently in the year 2019 the school was further upgraded to a Higher Secondary Institution with the sanction of opening  of Arts Stream in classes XI and XII. Today the Institution has emerged as one of the distinguished institutions in the locality to impart a humanistic and scientific education and to promote advancement of knowledge in the service of the society and the nation.
