History

Bagati Ramgopal Ghosh High (HS) School is one of the oldest and eminent institution in West Bengal.  This institution has a golden past and heritage. The name of our institution is associated with Derozian Babu Ramgopal Ghosh who was the member of Young Bengal and disciple of Henry Louis Vivian Derozio. Babu Ramgopal Ghosh set up this institution in 1853 in the village of Bagati, Hooghly. According to Sushi Kumar Mitra, the writer if Hooghly Zillar Itihas, Ramgopal Ghosh was the president of Native Benevolent Institution and established this institution in 1853 in Bagati. At the time of foundation the name of our school was Bagati High English School. The school faced many crisis but it was abled to overcome the crisis to spread the education among the rural people of this village. The school became Bagati Ramgopal Ghosh High School in 1943 . The school was registered in 22 nd June, 1948 by Societies Registration Act of Calcutta University. Our school is Co Educational with HS Section. It is the only Co Ed. School in this area where three streams Science, Commerce and Arts are taught successfully. At present the number of students in our school is 1610. We have excellent faculty and a number of equipped laboratory. We have introduced a large number of subjects in our HS Section for the benefits of our students  We teach through audio visual method using projector. Moreover we have addressing system in every corner of the institution. We have ICT facilities and well equipped computer laboratory. We have also opened a career hub. We have also an equipped library with more than 3000 books. There is a auditorium also in our institution where many meetings and guardian meetings are held. Guardian meetings are held regularly to develop the institution. Health and hygiene is maintained properly. We have also got Nirmal Vidyalaya Award. We have NCC and the cadets are always working for the development of the institution. We have made a kitchen garden in 2015 with the help of Chinsurah Mogra Block to supply nutritious food to or children.  Our mid day meal programme is going on successfully.

Apart from this we have Vocational Stream in HS section where Civil and Computer trade is being taught. About 100 students are being benefitted from this section. We have made separate building for Vocational section and it is Meghnad Saha Bhavan.

We have achieved several awards like Nirmal Vidyalaya Award, YPC Division Champion, Subrats Mukherjee football cup subdivision champion, kanyashree award etc and we are really proud of our students. A large number of students have kept their achievement in both academic and co curricular section. Our aim is all round development of our child and quality learning. We are proud of our school.
