History

      The inspiration for BANKATA SRI DURGA HIGH SCHOOL came in late 1960s when a small group of people of the locality envisioned a local school to enrich the poor and illiterate people of a widely spread undeveloped region of Indpur Block under Bankura district. Late Keshori Mohan Pain, Late Durgacharan Pain,Late Lachchman Singha,Sucharu Pain and others were the pioneers of the noble mission.In 1969 a school was born at Bankata with 47 students of class V.In  the very next year,1970 the school was able to obtain its first Recognition as 2 class(v & VI) Junior High School from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. The school continued to expand and in 1974 it was recognised as VIII class Junior High School.then after a long period in 2005 the school could manage to obtain its present status a X class High School from WBBSE.The first batch of Madhyamik students appeared in Madhyamik Pariksha 2007.Till now it is a High School and we are trying our best for its upgradation as a Higher Secondary School.
