History

Rome was not built in a day . Similarly our school has passed a long course of journey since its inception. It was before 1965 some local people of whom a very few in still living , had a plan and came forward to set up a school for providing education to the children of which most of them are from the families of " first generation learner " . They scratched their head and took the decision that the school should be named after the names of two villages.  Then the new born baby was Christened as Jagannathpur Shyampur High School , vill. - Jagannathpur , P.O. - Magura , P.S. - Joypur , Dist. - Bankura , Pin. - 722138 

The journey started.  Some contributed lands and donations were collected to construct one or two rooms . A soiled construction was erected and finally it got permission to start its journey officially with classes V and VI in 1965 . Hats off to those warriors who ultimately won the battle.  In 1966 it was upgraded to Junior High School i.e. upto class VIII level. Another chapter was started when it was upgraded to X class High School in 2006 . Another new chapter started in 2013 when the status of our school was changed from Govt. Aided to Govt. Sponsored school Vide School Education department Memo no.- 4105/RMSA/SL/5S-264/12  Date-30.09.2013                      Academically our students are improving . In games and sports our students also mark their sparkle presence . To meet the demand of the present society , our students are encouraged to use the mouse and to feel the revolutionary changes of science and Technology with help of 12 computers , LCD projectors , CDS , DVDS etc. Our students got electricity and fresh drinking water of  the submersible pamp . The school authority feels that our institutions in rural area , like ours is not only a centre of learning but also a source of livelihood of the villagers . The masons , the plumbers , the labourers , the artisans , the carpenters , the grocers , the painters - all the engaged for various school works from the village people . In our school few mothers ( S.H.G ) cooked mid - day meal to feed the children and thereby they earned their bread and butter . The journey of a thousand miles has just begun with the single step .
