History

Education brings about desired consciousness which is needed for Socio-political, Economic and Intellectual Development to light the illiterate, to see the unseen, to know the unknown and to conquer the unconquered. To achieve this goal, Ganeshpur High School (H.S.) was established 156 years ago in 1864 with the generosity and well-wishes of the Land-donor Lt. Sri Shib Chandra Roy and much education-loving people of the adjacent villages.

Incomplete history has been known from the land-deed of the school and the heirs of its founders. Lt. Sri Shib Chandra Roy selflessly donated two bighas of land for this school. This school was a mud-walled thatched in its very beginning. Then with the financial help and support of local people, Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff and Sarva Shiksha Mission reconstruction of Old School-Building, Construction of Class-Rooms & others were well and successfully completed. Thus the seed of this institution has got its present structure step by step standing alone as a symbol of pride and glory of this remote area overcoming many obstacles and natural calamities for more than 150 years.
