History

Gramya Hitakari girls’ School (H.S) is one of the threshold to complete its glorious 100 years. This school was established in 1921. Social condition was not favourable at that time. One of the major reforms of the freedom fighters in pre independent India was to establish this school. The first and foremost important thing for development is education. Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar also believed in this and worked for the same. The main objective of establishment o this school is to promote women education. The villagers under the British rule, specially to spread the lights of education in women established this school in the calm atmosphere beside Saraswati River.

This institution is one of the oldest and renowned school of Howrah district. With continuous good result in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examination, sports, special work and through other duties the school is maintaining its tradition.
