History

Our school was founded on 3rd January,1966 by Sir Tarapada Mukhopadhayay. The name of the school is HOWRAH RABINDRA VIDYAPITH FOR GIRLS which is located at 8, Priyonath Ghosh Lane, Howrah - 711104.The school started its educational journey with 4 teachers and 2 non-teaching staff. The first ever H.M.of this institution was Leela Bhattacharya.Sir Tarapada Mukhopadayay was hold the Secretary post of the institution at that time.

On 21st January,1968 the school was first recognised as Upper Primary. At that time the roll strength of the instituion was arround 246. On1st January,1973 the school successfully got the secondary level affiliation and was enlisted as one of the secondary Govt. aided school in Howrah district. At that time the number of staff were 15 which include H.M.,12 teaching staff, one clerk and 2 class IV staff. The roll strength of the school was 246-248 at that time. 7 students from this institution appeared for first Madhyamik Examination in the year 1974-75.

In the year 1992 H.M. Smt. Leela Bhattacharya retired. In 2006 Smt. Lalita Saha, a new H.M. was appointed for the school. Therefore due to the lack of proper administration in the school for a long period of time, the total number of students decreased gradually. The chief concern of the new H.M.was to improve the roll strength of the institution. With all the teachers co-operation, she tried her best to do so by visiting slums, campaingning the utility of different government projects like Kanyashree to slum dwellers, counselling to prevent dropouts and above all by explaining the the facilities that government is providing in the schools such as free books, uniform etc.But in spite of all the roll strength drecreasing day by day and it has come down to 10 ( in the year,2020).The H.M. Lalita Saha retired from her post on 31st December,2017.

Now the present T.I.C., Pamela Das has taken charge from 1st January, 2020.At present the total number of staff is 10 which include 8 teaching staff,1clerk and 1 group D.
