History

Howrah High School(H.S.), an Urdu Medium Co-education institution was established in 1959.It is popularly known as BAKHSHI SCHOOL, the named derived from the name of late Md. Bakhshi Master, who used to teach here, privately, it is now more than fifty years old. It was a State Government Aided School and recognized to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Now it has been converted to Govt Sponsored School. It has a fascinating history of growth from a small tin shed room donated by Late Khuda Bakhsh. This School has quite naturally passed through several vicissitudes in its progress from expansion and extension under the supervision of our founders and well-wishers particularly late Aziz Ghauwasi and Late Abbas Ali, our founders and well-wishers dream for the full-fledged development and expansion never be at a standstill but occasionally and partially hampered due to some unwanted circumstances The joint efforts of all its concerns have made dreams of the founders into a true ideal School. In 2017, Sana Iqbal a student of this institution has become topper in Madhyamik Pariksha 2017 (got 660 Marks out of 700 ) among the students of the Urdu Medium Schools of West Bengal her In 2018, Nishat Munir stood topper in Higher Secondary Examination (got 468 Marks out of 500) among the Urdu Medium School of West Bengal. A great effort was made to develop not academic part only in students but multi-dimensional development among our young learners through extracurricular activities as well. Five well furnished laboratories have been developed namely Physics, Chemistry, Bio Science, Geography and Computer to facilitate scientific temperament in the underprivileged Linguistic Minority Children of this locality. A library has also been established where more than 3500 text books, reference books and other books kept for students of this institution. There is a reading room which accommodates more than 20 students at a time. It has a facility to issue different books to the students. For serving the Cooked MDM to the students from V to VIII, a kitchen has been constructed with fire safety (fire extinguisher).
