History

DumDum Road Govt. Sponsored High School for Girls (H.S.) has a rich varied heritage . It was established on 2nd January 1962 by IAS officer Dr. Karuna Ketan Sen under the C.I.T. Bustee Rehabilitation  Scheme alongwith six other C.I.T. Schools in different nooks and corners of Kolkata.These schools were specially recognised as Government Sponsored Integrated Junior High School with classes I to VIII. In 1967 the school was upgraded to High School and then in 1996 it was further upgraded to Higher Secondary School by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. The school now stands with pride as one of the best and largest girls' school of North kolkata with almost 1700 students and 60 teaching and non-teaching staffs. The school runs in two shifts - morning and day and encourages the all round development of students with special stress on academic development of girls. Our Students have achieved several laurels in these 57 years and made us proud.
