History

Calcutta Training Academy, established in 1861 was founded by two eminent educationists, Late Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, the first President of the Managing Committee and his close associate, Late Thakurdas Chakraborty, the first Secretary of the Managing Committee. This school, which bears a long tradition of learning, takes a great pride in being associated with the name of the great Poet Laureate Late Rabindranath Tagore, an ex-student of this school. Late Sukanta Bhattacharya, Dr. Santi Ranjan Palit, Late Bhismadev Chattopadhyay, Late Maharaj Brahmanandaji, Late Ajit Chatterjee, and Late Ajoy Basu who earned fame in different fields also studied here and had an intimate association with the school. It also deserves mention that Late Hemchandra Bandopadhyay was the first Headmaster of the school.
