The main object of the founder was to promote the study of Arabic and Persian Language and of Mohammedan laws with a view to quality the sons of Muslim gentlemen for responsible and lucrative offices and to produce competent officers for the courts of justice.

After a few decades the need for the introduction of English Education was acutely felt but conservative Muslims opposed the idea.

However, on the recommendation of a committee, Anglo Persian Department was established on 1st July 1854 A.D. under the direct control o the principal, Calcutta Madrasah.

Since 1854 Anglo Persian Department, Calcutta Madrasah has been running at par with other Government Schools of Calcutta. It was affiliated to Calcutta University when it came to being. Students used to be awarded Matriculation Certification from the Calcutta University. When the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education was set up the institution was affiliated to it. It is also affiliated West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.

Thus it is purely Govt. Secondary and Higher Secondary School. The people having poor knowledge of the glorious contribution of this historical Institution in the field of Education in the pre and poor partition era, take is as other Madrasah running under West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education.

Before partition, the institution used to give brilliant results as only sons of nobles were admitted with certificates of respectability (Saraafatnama). However, although not so brilliant, results were satisfactory upto sixties of the last century. In seventies and eighties due to political turmoil and shortage of teachers, the percentage of results fell. However, during the last 10 years the results have satisfactorily improved. We have a team of highly qualified and energetic teachers who are trying their best to bring back the apst glory of the institution. May Allah help us in our noble endeavor.

Our institution has completed more than 150 years of its existence.
