History

South Calcutta girls high school has a long history. This school was established by a few local enthusiasts in a rented building and got its first recognition as a primary school in the year 1958. On 1st April 1959, the school was upgraded to the junior high school and in the year 1964 it was recognised as a Madyamik school by the government of West Bengal.Smt. Suhasini Sengupta  was the then Headmistress of the school and Sri Nirod Kumar Bhattacharya was the then President of the managing committee of the school. In the later years Smt. Dipali Chakraborty and Smt. Kalyanprabha Kundu respectively ran the school successfully as headmistress. The then local counsellor late Shri Anil Kumar Mukhopadhyay was the President and active well wisher of the school for a long time. Smt. Swarupa Das Gupta is the teacher in charge of the school at present and school is run by administrator.
