    Sir Asutosh Mookerjee, the gem of an educationist and a titan of a man, was
    a man with a mission.His was a dream of having founded an institution,run
    and resourced by the Indians and taught by the Indians, exactly in line
    with The Metropolitan Institution, conceived and cared for by no less
    renowned an educationist and a renaissance man than Iswar Chandra
    Vidyasagar.And thus came into being Mitra Institution Bhowanipur Branch on
    3rd February, 1905, founded by Sri Bisweswar Mitra, the Founder Head Master
    of Mitra Institution (Main).
    On 13 Kansaripara Road, in a rented house, the school began her humble
    journey into the pages of history till November 1910 when it had herself
    shifted to her present building on Harish Mukherjee Road, adjacent to
    Harish Park, with the address 16/A Balaram Bose Ghat Road, Kolkata 700025.
    The very first Managing Committee of the school was formed on 9th January
    1910 with Sir Asutosh Mookerjee as her President who ,by virtue of his
    personal love and care, had herself transformed into an institution at good
    as Eton am Harrow in England and that too within the first decade of her
    inception.And that invited all the honourable members of The Saddler
    Commission , instituted by the then British Government to pay a visit to
    the Institution in 1917 ,who were all praise for the standard of teaching
    and the congenial atmosphere, created by a team of dedicated teachers.
    The school was awarded permanent Recognition by Calcutta University on 1st
    September,1911..And that won the institution many a laurel in the Public
    Examinations under Calcutta University and later on under the West Bengal
    Board of Secondary Education down the years till date. The Institution won
    her a pride of place in the arena of school education in1945 when 4 of her
    pupils bagged 4 ranks out of TOP TEN.
    While the students of the institution owe their success to their esteemed
    teachers who included Sri Satis Chandra Bose (the first Head Master), Sri
    Haridas Kar(the first Asst Head Master), Ganitacharya K C Nag,(the 4th Head
    Master), Kavisekhar Kalidas Roy, Sri Deviprasad Roy Chowdhury (the artist
    of international repute), Sri Prafulla Chakraborty,Sri Jagadananda Roy ,
    Sri Nitindranath Roy et al, the teachers( of both the past and the present)
    shine in the reflected glory of their boys.
    To build better boys to build a better Bengal nay better Bharat is the
    motto of this institution.And hence since 1910 laurels galore have been won
    by her boys ,a galaxy of stars, who include Nirmal Chandra Chatterjee,
    Romaprasad Mookerjee, Syamaprasad Mookerjee, Kanak Ranjan Dasgupta,
    Chittotosh Mookerjee, Asin Dasgupta, Siddartha Sankar Roy, Somnath
    Chatterjee, Gen Jayanta Nath Chaudhury, Air Marshal Subrata Mukherjee,
    Hemanta Mukherjee, Jatin Das, Kabi Subhas Mukherjee, Raj Kapoor, Bikas Roy
    Arun Sharma, Sabyasachi Bhattacharya etc.
    The school is dedicated to doing as much good to as many pupils in as many
    ways and for as long as possible.
    Her past being glorious, present being bright, hers is an assured FUTURE.
