
HISTORY
Bejoygarh is the first colony of the refugee in West Bengal. The refugees from East Bengal first started their habitation at Bejoygarh with the help of their own effort. At first two schools namely Jadavpur Bastuhara Vidyapith one each for boys and girls were founded without Government aid. In course of time, with the increase in number of students more schools were needed. Consequently, three schools in the name of Bejoygarh Shiksha Niketan were set up in the South East of Bejoygarh region.The Headmistress of the Primary School was Smt. Ila Gupta. The School earned its named and fame with the help of untiring labour of Smt.Gupta. She went from door to door to collect students. She was ably assisted by Sri Dwarikanath Das, Smt. Maya Banerjee and Smt.Pravasini Dey Sarkar. Within a few years Bejoygarh Shiksha Niketan for Boys and the same for girls were established. The girls school had no building of its own. Classes were held in the morning at the boys school. Later building for the girl’s school had been set up by collecting place from R.R.Dept.. At first education was imparted by the male teachers. They did not take any remunaration from the school. Employment of female teachers became prominent for the affiliation of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Then the Managing Committee of the school granted the Ex-Headmistress Smt. Gouri Chakraborty the permission to join the School as the first Headmistress. Smt. Chakraborty work untiringly for the development of the school. Both the Asst. teachers and the Managing Committee co-operated with her. At present all the teachers take great care in teaching the students. The School has been raised to Higher Secondary School. The teaching and non-teaching staff are equally working very hard for the development of the School.
