It was way back on 3rd April,1953 , when Barisha Asar Vidyapith was established. Sri Murari Mohan Dutta initiated the school with co-operation from others who were interested in education. T he school began with the little ones under the able leadership of Sri Sankar Bhattacharya, the then Head of the Institution. Late Sri Dutta became the first President of the School Managing Committee (SMC). The co-operation of Sri Jatindranath Basu in this connection can not be gainsaid. The school grew and prospered gradually with the enthusiasm and co-operation of the local people.
In 1957, the school was shifted to a rented house in Silpara. Slowly educationist , Professor Biswanath Chakraborty and Sri Gouranga Bhattacharya became involved in the SMC . Later, with the help of Sri Ajit kumar Basu, a plot of land was purchased in 1963 beside James Long Sarani in Ramchandrapalli, where the school now stands. For Sri Sankar Bhattacharya and the localites, it was like a dream come true. Most of the founders and well-wishers who have helped to bring up the present school are now no more.
With the passage of time, new and energetic teachers and non-teaching staff have replaced them who have retired. The introduction of COMPUTERS in the school has revolutionized the system of education and office work herein. During the tenure of Sri Asis Basu, SSC appointed teachers began to take over the responsibility of teaching. The school also houses a fairly big LIBRARY with a good collection of books ---including text books and reference books.
The present school was upgraded to the H.S level in 2012 by the Head of the Institution, Sri Debapriya Chakraborty. The school can now boast of two Streams at the H.S level ---one SCIENCE and the other HUMANITIES/ ARTS. The school now also has good LABORATORIES for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography to cater to the needs of the H.S students. Quality students too in the recent past have passed out from the school with flying colours.
Moreover, the school attaches due importance to co-curricular activities to boost the interest of the pupils in the teaching-learning process. There is a fairly large play ground that helps the students to relieve them from the stress of day to day academics. The school now enjoys the status of a GOVT.-SPONSORED institution with students from all quarters pouring in to pursue their education.
Above all, the school disseminates information to all students irrespective of whether they are poor or rich or back ward. Rather, to say candidly, the poor and the backward are given financial concessions keeping in view the interests of the learners.
