The name of our school is Harasankar Garkilla Santamayi High School (H.S.). The school is in Purba Medinipur District. Harasankar is located in Nilkunthya Gram Panchayet in Tamluk Block under Tamluk subdivision of the district. The school is built in a rural environment just 6 km away from Mecheda railway station. The school was established in 1958 with great efforts of the local people. Among of them were Late Ishan Chowdhury, Late Haripada Sasmal, Late Gostha Kala, Late Shankar Chakraborty, Late Surendranath Manna etc. The place where the school is located today, was near the Shiva temple in Garkilla village. Currently the school is located on 10 decimal places. There is also a pond behind the school. This school was affiliated to teach till the class upto VIII in 1958. Later in 1981 it was upgraded to secondary and in 2006 to higher secondary. In 2011, the school has received approval to teach VIII+ Trade in Vocational Department. At the same time, a mid-day meal has been introduced in the school from V to VIII grade students at the initiative of Sarva Shiksha Mission. The number of students is increasing every year. The number of classrooms has increased compared to the past. The School has own laboratories of Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and a own Library too. The school has developed to inspire drawing, singing, recitation as well as self-written stories, essays, poems, rhymes in Wall Magazine 'Subarnarekha' and printed magazine called ‘Ankur’. In addition to these, Annual Sport and Function occur in every year. Apart from this, the school is celebrating Rabindranath Tagore's birth day, Swami Vivekananda's birth day, Teacher's Day, National Education Day, Independence Day, Republic Day etc through special programs. To make the students disciplined, Bratachari training has been arranged every year.
