History

Every creation has a history of its own and our School is no exception to this. In the long past the School area was not so developed and the inhabitants were poor,illiterate and to some extent superstitious also.Hunger,disease and illiteracy were the monsters to wipe out the poor and backward people.But a Zamindar,Sri Nalinikanta Chattopadhyaya of the village of Haratala appears like a saviour to the people. Some educated and respected persons felt dire need of an educational institution in the locality and they came forward to build a school,a real home of Education and decided to set up its foundation in the village of Kanchantala which is situated on the bank of the river Cossy (Kangsabati). Our School is the result of their strong and indomitable initiative and boundless spirit.Sri  Kanailal Guchhait,Sri Shashibhushan Maji and Sri Surendranath Manna of Kanchantala and Sri Panchanan Ghorai of Kalkali donated land for our vidyaniketan. Our beloved School was christened in the names of the pious zamindar Sri Nalinikanta Chattopadhyaya and his Gurudev Santadas.To give honour to the request of the  great Zamindar the name of his Gurudev Santadas was kept first in the name of the institution.However the school was recognised as 2 class Junior High School in  1959 w.e.f. 01/04/1959,as 4-class Junior High School in 1961w.e.f.01/03/1961,as  X-class High School in 1966 w.e.f. 01/01/1966 ,(once as XI-class School in 1971)and as Higher Secondary School in 2015 w.e.f. 01/07/2015. The school has now hostel facility for SC and ST students. The School is now a bright candle spreading its dazzling rays in darkness of every nook and corner of the society and will do the same for ever and ever.
