
HISTORY OF SCHOOL
Agarbandh High School started its journey on 15th January ,1970 on an auspicious moment under the able guidance of some persons interested in education of this locality with two tiny rooms in a thatched house on one acre of land donated by the members of Goswami family of Agarbandh. Late Bijoy Gopal Manna was the founder secretary, and Shri Ganesh Ch. Santra, Shri Trilochan Santra and Shri Ramsatya Goswami were founding teachers who assumed the responsibilities and challenges of starting a new school . Later Shri Bankim Ch. Bera , Shri Sadhan Ch Kundu , Shri Narayan Ch. Karak ,Rabindra nath Mondal extended their helping hands and served for a decade without remuneration in the interests of students of this locality . Hundreds of ex-students, teachers ,M.C members came forward for development and smooth running of this school in course of its long journey and in toughest times. It acquired first recognition from the WBBSE as two class Junior High School w.e.f 01-01-1974 and was upgraded from 2-class to 4 class Junior High School w.e.f 01-05-1991. It was granted recognition as a High school with permission to open class IX from 01-05-2000 provisionally for three years and it sent up first batch of candidates at the M. P in 2002. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education accorded provisional recognition for introduction of Higher Secondary General Stream Courses with co-education w.e.f 2012-13 academic session . It develops slowly into a full-fledged higher secondary school with more than six hundred students from Agarbandh ,Chunpara ,Olui, Deriapur, Bindu,Manikdipa, Chatra, Salgeria, Jharnadanga, and adjacent villages under Saraboth Gram Panchayet. Since its establishment it has been striving hard to make the best possible efforts to inculcate human values combining with academics and extracurricular activities in our students .This temple of learning has now become a proud Alma Mater of thousands of students of this locality. In January 2020 the Golden Jubilee Celebration is observed in a befitting manner to celebrate its fifty years long and eventful journey.
