History

Panagarh Bazar High School ,Panagarh is a co educational government sponsored secondary institution located at the very heart of Panagarh Bazar , well connected by railroad and national highway 2. Established in the year 1970 the school has witnessed a chequered history since its inception. This institution has been emerged out as the veritable space where the multi layered meaning of education has been explored and experimented. Keeping the fact of the all around development of the tender minds ,no stone has been left unturned to make it a site for academic excellece for touching the zenith of perfection.

With a desperate urge to eradicate the curse of illiteracy among the local people  , the triumvirate of doctors ,who were also social workers namely Dr Ajoy Banerjee, Dr Sanatan Bose and Dr Mihir Ghosh  of Panagarh Bazar  sought for the panacea by establishing the school. Their unfailing pragmatism resulted into this institution where the children form the academically and socially backward layers of the society have had the privilege to take entry into the realm of venerable academia which otherwise would remain unknown to them. The school was formally opened in the year 1970 and the classes (v and vi) were held in the rooms of Panagarh Bazar Free Primary School . Muktaram Sarkar and Swaraj Ghosh were appointed as faculty memebers. Later during 1973-74 , the for the purpose of establishing its own campus ,land was purchased form Nirmal Banerjee a resident of Panagarh Gram. Local people contibuted generously to raise fund for the sake of purchasing land as well as establishing the building. With the appointment of Sukumar Laha as in charge of the school , classes vii and viii were initiated. The school began to expand its wings with its formal affiliation to the WBBSE in 1984 as two class and subsequently as four class junior high school in 1985. The institution has been elevated to its secondary status in the year 1999. Since then ,it has been nurturing the aspirations of the thousands dreaming to soar high.
