Although, the initiative for the establishment of Shree Shiv Burn Hindi F.P. School was started as early as January 1970, it got established in the year 1971. And the school got recognition in the year 1973.
The School was founded on a 7 kattha 8 chhatank area of land donated by five donors :
Since, then under Sarva Shiksha Mission, the school got funds time to time for construction of classrooms, kitchen, store-room, lavatories etc; monthly grants for Midday Meal programme; yearly grants for Teaching Learning Materials, School Improvement, and Maintenance; and recently instead of the three different grants a yearly Composite Grant.
Not only that, the school also from time to time benefited from the selfless service of many others, including members of school committees, who contributed in one way or other for the development of the school. Especially, few years ago, the members of the school committee and the locals stood rock-like with the school when some people with ill-will tried to take over a part of the school compound, and through collective action foiled their ill-conceived plans. Two committee members, Ranjit Tanti and Binod Mishra, are also worthy of mention for their generous donation of pots and plants, and organizing a Drawing and Painting competition respectively. Then we also got help from organizations like SBI in form of contribution to the infrastructure of the school. Not long ago we had the blessings of some local businessmen donors towards the complete construction of the boundary wall of the school and the school office. And recently we were fortunate enough to get attention, with the help of school committee, from MLA (Durgapur), Sri Biswanath Parial, who helped us get an MPLAD fund, with which the recent construction of a shed was possible.
The School is located in Lalua Bandh, Durgapur-1, beside the Durgapur Railway Station and near the now closed down Burn Company. And it is the only Government Hindi School in Durgapur-1, Durgapur-10.
The School is surrounded by mostly slum areas, from where the majority of the students come to the school.
Other places from where students come to the school are Iranipara, D-Math, Karangapara, Hattala Road, Rail Colony etc.
Initially it was started with Class I to Class IV. Later Class V was also added.
After the new Right to Education Act 2009 came into force in 2010, Class Pre-Primary was also started.
Now, we have Class Pre-Primary to Class V.
At the time of the formation of the school in 1970, the Head Teacher of the School was Deosharan Singh.
After Deosharan Singh retired from his service in June 2007, Ram Sevak Rai ran the school for some time, in the absence of any Head Teacher.
Then, Karyanand Jha took charge of the school in January 2008.
After Karyanand Jha retired in 2015, no Head Teacher was recruited, and Ram Sevak Rai became the Teacher-in-charge.
After Ram Sevak Rai was retired in February 2020, Deeptish Oraon has since been the Teacher-in-charge of the school.
