History

The first Iron and Steel Works in India was set up in 1870 and it was absorbed by Indian Iron & Steel company (IISCO)in 1936. Later on, it was named SAIL. Thanks to the then management of the erstwhile IISCO who established seven schools including Primary Schools and Boys' High Schools within the area of the said company to cater to the educational needs of the wards of the employees and also of the local inhabitants. The Schools were established in the lands owned by the Company and had their own buildings.

It was in 1953 that Kulti Girls' High School saw the light of the day. The WEST BENGAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION granted recognition to the School w.e.f. 01.01.1953. It created a history in Kulti because the long-felt need of Girls' education was at last fulfilled. The first approved Headmistress of the Institution was Late Arati Sarkar.

Today it is one of the premier Girls' Schools in the area. At present, the school has nearly 1500 students. It took years to reach this present prestigious position. It is worthy to be mentioned that our ex-Headmistress, Mrs. Supriya Mukherjee donated a good amount of money towards the construction of a Library in the school, in memory of her deceased son, Dr. Swarnarenu Mukherjee.

Our motto is cent percent success and we are trying to achieve this in both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examinations. Our heartfelt "congratulations" to Ms. Barsha Das who ranked 7th in the Merit list of West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination, 2015.

The School is trying to bridge the gulf between the teacher and the student. We have gained much but there is more to be gained; and we are committed to keep growing, thereby propagating our mission, so as to keep up our tradition of excellence in everything we do !
