From the Desk of Headmaster-
It gives me immense pleasure to express my thoughts as the Head of this Institute. Saraswati Higher Secondary School is located in Peshok Tea Estate which is one of the most beautiful terrain of North Bengal. It is cradled in the lap of nature laced with tea gardens , forest and the mesmerizing river Teesta.
This institute was founded in the year 1958 by a few local people, the pioneer being Late Dikey Rai, who deeply felt the need of an Institute in educating the children of this region and laid the foundation stone on the occasion of Saraswati Puja and hence this institute carries with it the name “Saraswati” which itself is a homage to Goddess of Knowledge. This is a co-educational institute bearing the motto “Surya Rashmi Samman Vidhya” which ensures the openess to new learning,quality education, character building and also provides the students with ample opportunity for their overall progress and development.
Talking about curriculum, in our school, the children gains an all round-education and achieve their potential not just in the academic field but also in co-curricular, literary and sports as well. We also focus on the importance of instilling good values which is our prime objective.
Today, we have completed 62 successful years of imparting knowledge and have also witnessed the phenomenal “Diamond Jubilee” Celebration in 2018. So, when we look back to those glorious years, it is a matter of great pride for us to announce that the school which was established as a Junior School till class V got its recognition in the year 1967 as 2-Class Junior high School and in the year 1984 got upgraded as 4- Class junior high School and later on after a long span of 27 years got upgraded to High School in 2011 and subsequently to Higher Secondary in 2014 under the guidance of Mr. R.P. Tamang, a dedicated Board member,West Bengal Board of Secondary Education,Hill Areas. Today, we are running the Higher Secondary section with Humanities and have implemented Science Stream as well.
Our School is scaling new heights with hundred percent result in Madhyamik Pariksha for the past eight years and also excellent performance in the higher secondary with twenty two students securing 1st division and ten students securing 2nd division this year. So, every passing batch is doing exceedingly well and they are no doubt leaving a legacy for future generation to follow.
I feel blessed and honoured to lead this Institute of Peshok Tea Estate with a dedicated and competent team of staff members, the invaluable trust of our parents , blessings of well wishers and most importantly our loving students continues to add laurels to the school.
We as a team , remain committed to deliver on the value and culture entrusted to us by our dear founders so as to build the next generation of Saraswites.
As Einstein remarked - “ Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think” . Hence we want our students to be positive thinkers and life long learners so we try to hone the talents of our children in a manner that they reach up to their optimal potential.
