The school was established as " Saint Marie's Institution " ( École de Sainte Marie ) by Father Magloire Barthet in 1862 . In 1894 it was renamed "École Publique de Garçons" having been run by the French Government and was rechristened Dupleix College (Collège Dupleix) after famous ruler of colonial France and the first Governor of Chandernagore, Joseph François Dup
