It is under the jurisdiction of Haripal Police Station of Hooghly district in West Bengal. It is in this village that a noble soul Sri Girish Chandra Bhar (1857 to 1933) took initiative to establish a school for the upliftment and wholesome development of his village people. He was the Hon'ble President of Calcutta Union Board and the Hon'ble Magistrate of Serampore. To bring fulfilment of his dream project, he donated 3.65 Acre land of his own and a sum of Rupees 50000 (Fifty Thousand) at the then time. It was for his visionary zeal and mammoth effort that "Bahirkhand Girish Institution" was established on the auspicious occasion of 10th January, 1927.
