In the year 1857, after the Sepoy Mutiny, nationalism was germinating and steadily proliferating in India. At that historical juncture, Chakraberia School was established in the eastern part of Bhawanipur in South Calcutta on Saturday, February 28. The school is proud of its alumni, among whom are illustrious figures. Some of them are--

Educational Personality

During that period   Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee who was admitted to Chakraberia Shishu Vidyalaya. Having a brilliant student like Ashutosh Mukherjee was an impetus for the school, which started expanding. 

Apart from the Tiger of Bengal,  who spread the light in the history of Chakraberia High School in educational field, other reputed personalities are

 Sri Samarendra Krishna Sarkar who was the former Deputy Secretary of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. 

Sri Satyabrata Chowdhury, was former Principal of Bangabasi College (morning) , 

Sri Sukumar Bandopadhyay, was the Head of Department of Bengali, in Asutosh College. 

Sri Subodh Mitra , the former secretary of  the famous magazine, Noro Nari, played important role in the spread of different ideas through writings. 

At the last, but not the least, Dr, Mantu Kumar Mtra, former student and retired teacher of this school , is famous for writings poems, stories and recitation. 

Cultural Personalities:-

Many famous cultural personalities studied in our school and  made us proud. 

Uttam Kumar ( Arun Kumar Chatterjee), popularly known as Mahanayak is the most famous Bengali film actor for ever. He changed acting style in Bengali film and created new eras in film world. 

Sri Shambu Mitra, was famous film and stage actor, director, playwright, reciter and theatre personality and was pioneer in Bengali theatre. 

Ahindra Chowdhury was film actor, director and famous theatre personality in West Bengal.

Naresh Chandra Mitra,was very  famous Bengali film actor, director and screenwriter.

Tarun Kumar, brother of Mahanayak, was very famous film actor and theatre personality.

Nirmal Kumar, who also came to our school during the 150 th years celebration in 2007, was another famous film actor.

Partha Mukherjee who played the role of son , brother with Mahanayak, was aslo popular face in Bengali film. 

Medical Personalities

Although some students have passed and became doctors in future. We are proud of the famous surgeon Dr Birens Saha. 

Administrative Personality

Bijay Bandopadhyay was former speaker of  West Bengal State Assembly and former Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. 

Shyamal Kumar Mitra  an IPS officer, also famous student from this old institution.

Sri Kiriti Ranjan Sen worked as an  Assistant Commissioner of Police in Kolkata Police. 

Sports Personality

School has some famous alumni in the field of sports. Pradeep Pandey , regular former player of Bengal Cricket Team for Ranji and Duleep Trophy; Jagatpata Aich in swimming; Kashi Nandi in football; Ashim Ghosh in boxing are notable among them.
