Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore, Vidyasagar, Raja Rammohan Roy, Sister Nivedita, Swamiji and many other great men, women and visionaries had a strong believe that women play an active and major role in the upliftment of the society. In spite of immense hurdles and social barriers from the patriarchal society, women from all around the world have proved themselves in all spheres and walks of life. With the same noble vision our school Minakhan Jatindranath Balika Vidyalaya(H.S)  was established in 1975 though in a humble manner with a meagre infrastructure  and a few students. I joined the institution as the headmistress on 25.04.2006 and took over the charge from my worthy predecessor Mrs Anita Mukherjee, erstwhile  Teacher -in-charge.  With the wholehearted and active support of my teachers, staff, Managing Committee members, the late founder and the residents of the locality, our school has been steadily progressing and stands out  as an exception in the heart of Minakhan  as the only  girls school in the Minakhan block. There has been a remarkable improvement in academics and our students have been constantly striving towards excellence. Along with the general stream which continues smoothly from class V to Xll, we now have the vocational department which has been offering various courses including Tailoring with a view to help the local women become self-sufficient.  There is the IT and Healthcare (NSQF Project) as well for the students from classes IX-XII to foster the goal of women's empowerment. It has been our constant endeavor to help the promising students of the locality who often come from poverty stricken background and belong to the first generation learners, to estimate their worth and stand out  confidently in the society as worthy human beings who are engaged in respectable professions. In the process we have been continually fighting with social vices as Child Marriage and Girl Child Abuse. Our teachers give their best efforts to Infuse intellectual and mental strength among the students and assist them to stand out with confidence in the future. The physical health well- being is taken adequate care through games and sports. We still have a long path to trudge upon  but surely we shall succeed  for we strongly believe ' sky is the limit'.
