Brief History of School

During 1960s, some visionaries from Sundarpur and adjoining areas felt the dire need to uplift the local educational scenario in a the then socio-economically backward area. Those pioneers donated land and other resources and on 7th January, 1965, the Orahar High School (H. S.) began its journey under the stewardship of Mr. Niranjan Kumar Das, the founder teacher.

Recognition of their labour started pouring in. The school came under the Grant-in-Aid Scheme in 1978. The school was officially upgraded to the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels in the years 1980 and 2009 respectively.

The seed that was sown almost 55 years ago, has now flourished into a full grown tree of almost 1700 students belonging to classes V to XII. Since its inception, the school has registered positive and influential contribution towards improving the educational spectrum of the adjoining areas, almost a dozen villages. A large number of first generation learners, as a result, have established themselves.

The students have achieved several accolades both in the fields of academics and sports. The school is now considered as one of the major institutions in the Bhagwangola-1 block.

At present, the institution is spearheaded by Mr. Md Khadem Rasul, the AHM cum TIC  of the institution, known for their passion and dedication towards the school. They are adequately scaffolded by a committed faculty of 17 teaching and 3 non-teaching staff.

With such a team full of motivation, the school is sure to attain greater heights of success in future.
