History

Don Bosco High School (HS), Krishnagar is a Christian Minority Institution. With the arrival of the Salesians of Don Bosco (S.D.B.) (popularly known as Don Bosco fathers in the area) in Nadia district of West Bengal, on 24th June 1928 the idea of educating the poor masses began. Three Salesian fathers, namely Fr. Emanuel Bars (leader), Fr. Piesur and Fr. Pisano were entrusted with the work in Krishnagar. Primary school of Saints Peter and Paul and a boarding house for about twenty boys in a dilapidated building close to the then father’s residence (close to the Church), was the origin of Don Bosco School. Saints Peter and Paul School was re-named asDon Bosco School and was taken over and run by the Salesians in 1934.

It was raised to a High School in 1951. Again in 1962 it was upgraded to a Higher Secondary School up to Class XI only in Humanities. When the XI Class system was off from the State of West Bengal it again became High School up to Class X. This new X Class School has again been transported to its present position in 1969 near Anadinagar Colony crossing the Railway line. The School is recognised by the Government of West Bengal and affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education since its inception as High School. This building has now been continuing as Don Bosco Primary School.
