Established in 1956 on the land of W.B. Refugee Relief Department i.e. WBRR Department under the auspices of some local patrons of learning and persons interested in education, namely honorable LATE HERAMBA DASGUPTA, LATE HIMANGSHU DASGUPTA, LATE NIRMAL SENGUPTA, LATE NONI KUNDU, LATE NRIPEN CHOUDHURY, and others. First it had to share the same premises of the common school KAMALAPUR KAMALA VIDYAPEETH and used to run in the morning session. Later on, 25th July, 1965 on a portion of land separated from the common school KAMALAPUR KAMALA VIDYAPEETH this institution for girls was established. The founder stone was led by Late Heramba Das Gupta, the the then President of this school. The school started its journey as a day session school for girls' by the name of KAMALAPUR KAMALA BALIKA VIDYAPITH in the year 1965 in a a single storied building adjacent to the boys ' one to provide quality education to the girls in and around the locality.
Situated adjacent to the DUMDUM AIRPORT GATE NO 1, under the Municipal Assembly and Parliamentary jurisdiction of Dumdum and located nearest to the DUMDUM and DUMDUM CANTONMENT railway stations and under the C.R.C.TARUN SIKSHA SADAN, KAMALAPUR KAMALA BALIKA VIDYAPITH has been contributing gloriously to the upliftment of the society with reputation since its inception for more than half a century by way of spreading the light of women education in the country.
The institution that set foot as a primary institution long back in 1956, marched forward gloriously through phases of upgradations like Upper primary level in 1958, Secondary level in 1960 and then in 1965 it was upgraded to the then higher secondary level and was the first school with such facility in the nearest locality. Finally it was upgraded to this new system of the H.S. level in 1976 and flourished gradually and consolidated its position under the zeal and enthusiasm of honorable Smt. SADHANA CHOWDHURY BHATTACHARYA the first Headmistress (worked up to 06.04.1958), Smt. SUSHAMA PALIT, (09.11.1959-1961), Smt. BANI MITRA(13.07.1961-31.07.1999), Smt. KRISHNA SENGUPTA(2004-2014) and at present of DR. PARAMITA CHAKRABORTY.(19.07.2019 onwards).
The first president was late Sri. Heramba Dasgupta, and later on Sri. S. K. Roy (1968), Sri. Bibhuti Mukherjee (1969-1972), Sri. Nani Gopal Kundu (1973), Sri. Tarun Kanti Sur (1974-1975), Smt. Sefali Ganguly (administrator, 1976), Sri. Ashok Dasgupta (1977-1978), Sri. Asit Das Sharma (1979-1991), Sri. Bivas Sarkar (1992-1999), Sri. Sudhir Mondal (2000-2011), Sri. Prabir Kumar Dhar (2012-2015), Smt. Sahana Haque (Administrator, 13.03.2017-19.06.2018) and now Sri. Prabir Kumar Dhar (20.06.2018-tilldate) helped the school as President/ Secretary for its work in all aspects.
The institution has not only flourished in its shape and size from single storied to three storied building, but also holds its head high in reputation above the neighboring schools, as an institution of pride to the guardians extending wholehearted co-operation. This temple of learning aims to an all-round development of the students stressing on the extracurricular activities side by side the sincere teaching learning process through effective class -teaching by a student friendly and efficient teaching staffs. Side by side secondary section the school has H.S. Section also with SCIENCE and ARTS sections offering suitable and comfortable subject combinations. We have also well arrangements for Computer learning for the last 5 years with practical classes for the students from class V to class IX. It is also well equipped with science laboratories, a Library enriched with more than 2500 books on various subjects facilitated with a reading room and lending system, well sanitation, water and electricity connections etc. the school is complete in itself. Placed amidst an open-air atmosphere congenial to schooling of learners in a well disciplined, peaceful environment ensuring happy relationship between students and teachers and a united effort of the teachers, guardians and M.C. Members this institution possesses an ideal set up to train up the students irrespective of caste, creed and financial backgrounds as worthy citizens of future to serve the nation in a befitting manner.
