When the website for Kapsit High School(H.S.) is in the process of being launched in 2020, people living in and around Kapsit, Aramabagh, Hooghly are celebrating 70th year of their beloved Alma Mater Kapsit High School fondly reminiscing the goodness of the folk heroes who initiated the move towards setting up an educational institution in the small village in 1951. Kapsit, a backward and remote village of West Bengal, 90 km away from Kolkata is 10 km to the south of Arambagh. The state highway AhilyabaiHolkar Road connecting Arambagh with Kolkata, is 8 km to the north of Kapsit and the rivers Dwarakeshwar and Mundeshwari flow along the western and eastern fringes of exclusively agrarian area.
1947 brought Indian people liberation from direct foreign rule resulting in jubilation and exaltation while 1950 heralded the adaption enactment and promulgation of the constitution of the hascentrepublic of India, opening the flood gates of peoples’ vigor and vitality, power and potential, initiative and improvisation. A group of well meaning and enlightened villagersled by Pravas De Sarkar, Rakhal Chandra Khan, Monindranath Dana, Monindranath Sarkar and the likes of them made the most of the opportune moment to realize their dreams and fulfill their creative urges. And the result was a school with class five and six housed in a mud-walled straw thatched hut. Soon Haripada Khan, the first MBBS doctor of Kapsit joined hands with them and endeavourto establish a fully fledge educational institution had a new lease of life. With an inspired spirit of sacrifice, Rakhal Chandra Khan, Nayan Bag, JaladharDhank and Nandalal Bag came forwarded to donateland for the construction of the school building . The local peasantry liberally exerted their manual labour and skill.
In due course by degrees the institution was recognized by WBBSE first as a two class (V-VI) junior high school in 1956, then as a four class (V-VIII) junior high school in 1958 and next as a ten class high school in 1966. Finally in the year 2002 the school was affiliated by WBCHSE with Arts, Science and Commerce stream.
Kapsit High School (H.S.) has now a grand and imposing building with physics, chemistry, biology and geography laboratories, a well equipped library with a precious reading room. It is no rhetoric when one says that the school is wonderfully beautiful (and really few years ago One of the guests of honour exclaimed that he had never seen such a glossy environment in our school). There is the rectangular school play ground as if an emerald green carpet, 90 meters by 80 meters along of whose side lines there the interconnected school building forming the natural boundary wall of the school. It is just grand and glorious.
While profiling the anecdote of the formative early years of the educational institution, the dedicated service of the teachers like Sisir Kumar Pal, Raj Kumar Chakraborty, Nemai Chandra Nandi, Ajit Kumar Khan and some others has to be duly acknowledged. Our school first hit the headline of newspaper in 2014 when a student stood sixth in the MP examination and then again 2016 when another one stood ninth in the MP examination. Earlier in 1999 one of our student ranked 17thin the MP examination. Enumerable students of Kapsit High School have taken in their lives excelled in diverse disciplines and shined in various private and public sector, thereby heightening the status of the area surrounding Kapsit.
Now to conclude these discourse one most important facts required to be stated unequivocally the achievement of this school so far have been due basically to the healthy relationship among the students, teaching & non teaching staff, guardians , members of the Managing Committee and people of the adjacent.
