This quote probably sums up the basic motto of education. As a person directly involved with school education, I consider it to be my privilege to be at the helm of affairs of a school with such a rich academic and cultural history. Circumambulating the manifestation of Education, my dream that my school will be a venue of human resource remained as a pedestal of glory. The enrichment of a nation depends upon the overall education and cultural feelings of all the people belonging to that nation. Education is the key to the maximum development of a nation. We are only artisans of this great job which will be rightly fulfilled through the earnest effort of the teachers, students and guardians.
"ONDA GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL(H.S.)" is an arena where every girl child is nurtured as daughter and is educated to be a unique enlightened individual to provide beacon light to illuminate the society for a better future.
There was no ray of education until mid twentieth century. Some local humanitarian lenient residents rendered monetary help and gracious, benevolent eclectics offered land. With this small initiative the school started on this present land with bamboo mud thatched roof and wall in 1959 from Class V to VIII for Girls‘ education.
Class V to VIII affiliation came in 1959, Madhyamik in 1966 and Higher Secondary Education in 2023. From 2013 Onda Girls' High School(H.S.) has been categorized as Govt. Sponsored School by the Dept. of School Education(Secondary Branch), Govt. of West Bengal and affiliated to WBBSE and WBCHSE respectively.
Located by the National Highway (NH-14) elongating close by Onda Girls' High School(H.S.) has been consistently providing quality education to local girls children in and around onda for generations.The locality being inhabited mainly by farmers, they felt an urge and the need to set up an academic institution which was very essential at that time. The school is being run with a lot of care and dedication on the part of the teaching and non-teaching staff and para teachers who are always striving hard to maintain the high standards which have been a hallmark of this Institution over half-century.
Onda Girls' High School (H.S.) was established in the month of May of1959 as namely "Junior Basic School for Girls" with the noble view to cater quality education to the girl students of the locality. In 1966, the school got affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and was recognized as a X- class high school with effect from 01.01.1966. Presently the school is running as a Government Sponsored Bengali Medium Institution imparting education to over 1000 girl students. Onda Girls' High School has been recently recognised by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education and upgraded to Higher Secondary Level in 2023. The School provides free education and all Govt. facilities(Mid Day Meal, Free Text Books, Exercise Books, School Bag, SC/ST/OBC/Minority Scholarship, CWSN incentives, Free School Uniform and others) to all students as per Govt rules.
The school boasts of a very bright academic result in Madhyamik Examinations. Besides, our students take active participation in various co-curricular and social activities.
We also have an ICT enabled smart-class room sufficiently equipped with unit to help our students experience the modern techniques of education. Discipline and cleanliness are considered to be the top most priorities in the school’s list of agenda.
Our school precincts are clean and tidy. Republic Day, Independence Day, Teachers’ Day , Rabindra Jayanti , Saraswati Puja ceremony and annual sports day, etc are celebrated with sanctity. Students are encouraged for cultural activities like music, dance, extempore, recitation etc on regular basis. Educational tour is conducted anually. The School runs successfully mid-day meal programmes with two Residential Hostels facilities.
With the razor sharp wisdom the school is ploughing education to offer the nation a mob of complete humane with an oath to serve India in a wider spectrum.
Our sole aim is to make the school a commendable centre of excellence and nurture the human qualities of our girls. Be it academically, culturally or socially - it is our vision to see our girls flourish in all spheres of life.
We keep our eye on goals to achieve success, motivation, determination, willpower, urge to achieve. We give importance on set of actions follow regularly, time management, prioritise action. We also keep a vigil on distracted, overloaded, overworked, frustrated, simply veer off track, confused of goals type students to boost them in proper channel.
With the heartfelt help and honest initiative of the teachers, staff, school managing committee and the local community, we desire to make our school an eco friendly one, equipped with all modern amenities.
Though reaching the pinnacle is not an easy task, we are strong in our belief that our very own ‘'Onda Girls' High School(H.S.)’' will definitely be able to produce ideal future citizens of the country in the years to come.
On behalf of the entire school, I would like to say, that we are continually growing as an Institution and would try our utmost to up hold the values and traditions which have given Onda Girls' High School its position of eminence. Aided by these principles and our honest efforts, we look forward to contribute towards development of our girls into independent, successful women, empowered with human qualities.
I conclude with the famous quote of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam : " Don't take rest after your first victory because if you fail in second, more lips are waiting to say that your first victory was just luck ".
