History

History of the Institution: -

Be inspired by ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Vidyasagar all members of “Pratihar Lineages” Donated their own land to build up the school in 1968 at Kantapahari Village which is situated in SC. & ST. dominated area. They perceived education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the society as a whole.  

With the exuberance and compassion mind of the former Headmaster (Retired) Susil Kumar Chakraborty and four members of Pratihar family named Gour Pratihar, Basanta Pratihar, Radhakrishna Pratihar, Rakhahari Pratihar who decorated their terms as “Founder Members” of the Managing Committee as per Government rules and some interested persons of surroundings ascertained to shake off ‘Backward badge’ of the area.

According to view of ‘great thinker’ Swami Vivekananda “Pratihar family” members realized only education can generate the most valuable wealth of the universe from this earth and can change their life from birth to death. At that time Government was pleased and laureated them. On 2nd January 1968 school was established as a 4 class Junior High School in a Kancha building which was constructed by donation raised from the people of Kantapahari village and neighbouring villages in cordial and in kind with the tireless effort of so many people. The initiators had no hesitation to name the school after Swami Vivekananda. They selected the name of the school ‘Kantapahari Vivekananda Vidyapith’. The school was guided very well by efficient M.C. and renowned teachers. The school recognised as High School in 1987 and Higher Secondary (Arts & science Stream) in 2010.
